Raina, being 14 at the time, was deemed innocent of these deaths, considering the state she was found in. Dirty, bruised, and burned as if the young girl barely managed to escape the fire, the rest of the family couldn't. The truth, however, was far worse than anyone could have imagined.

Raina, along with her other three siblings, was orphaned at a terribly young age when the Garleans invaded their homeland. They were all separated, but Raina was adopted into an Ishgarden house that was rather religious and strict. She was old enough to remember her true family at the age of nine.
Her adoptive family was Elezen, but the lady of the house took a liking to Raina, as the look in her eyes had been empty and broken, viewing the child as a charity project. Her new step-siblings hated her, bullying her all through childhood. Because of this, she wore a veil to hide her face, which she still does to this day.

Because of this abuse and mistreatment, Raina burned the family’s estate down at the age of fourteen when that abuse became physical and grew in intensity, resulting in an eye injury that rendered her blind in her left eye, a breaking point for the young girl, killing the Greenbriar line and leaving her as the sole heir to the estate and its wealth and watching that house burn to the ground without a shred of regret.
